Momma Fashionista

I woke up before everyone else this morning and snuck down to my office to try and think of a Mother's Day cartoon. No matter what I sketched, nothing seemed to really come to me. I was totally blank.

Then the kids woke up.

I was showered with a friendship bracelet that spells out, "You are great," an #1 Mom button, a bracelet with glued on jewels, a planter with a mystery plant, and a baby apple tree in a hand painted (maybe finger painted) pot.

Squeeeeeeee!

Needless to say I loved my presents and my girls loved that I wore the jewellery out of the house. My 9 year old asked if I thought people would know that I was wearing the jewellery to make them happy and I replied that I was wearing it to make me happy - that I'm not really concerned about about what anyone thinks. Her smile got bigger.

Whether you're a biological mother or not - for me Mother's Day is about remembering all of the people in our lives who encourage and nurture us. Those awesome people who have supported us and helped achieve things we never thought possible.

If there is someone like that in your life, take a moment to tell them how grateful you are for having them in your life and if you have been that for others, be sure to let yourself receive some of that love back today.
